Organic Studies Centre
Committed to the delivery of high quality trials, demonstrations and training programmes for organic agriculture. This is achieved by working closely with organic producers, conducting sound scientific investigation and ensuring effective dissemination of information.
Based at the Rosewarne campus, the Organic Studies Centre is part of Duchy College's Rural Business School. Staff at the Centre are involved in a wide range of research and training activities in Cornwall, in the wider south west of England and also through national and international projects. Latest news
A very successful and popular "Organic Grassland" event was held during July at Stephen Gelly farm near Bodmin, with Dr Heather McCalman. Thanks to Martyn Collinge and family for hosting.
Four different varieties of butternut squash were planted in June so as to examine their performance under irrigation and plastic mulch.
Ten green manure species were planted for demonstration purposes in May.
A potato variety trial was planted during March to examine blight resistance varieties developed by the Savari Research Trust.
On March 10th a 'Trees, an untapped agricutural asset' event was held at North Wyke Research and was attended by 50 farmers and foresters. See events for more details.
